The Rüthen high ropes course, a joint initiative of the German Scout Association of St. George and the rope team, presents itself as a specialized center for experiential education in North Rhine-Westphalia. The facility enables people with and without mobility impairments to enjoy a participatory experience at height. Fourteen carefully designed high stations and various low ropes course elements help to expand individual skills and promote team processes.
A striking example of this is the Jakobsturm, a challenging high station for up to four people, which emphasizes the importance of teamwork. Secured and with the aid of specific aids such as ramps and ropes, the group develops a shared path over platforms at a height of six meters. This inclusive approach allows wheelchair users, for example, to abseil down the "long path" or explore other accessible courses.
Supervision is provided by qualified team leaders who guarantee safety standards and professionally design the educational process. A comprehensive clarification of the assignment, which takes interdisciplinary cooperation into account, is essential. The high elements include a team beam, catwalk and climbing wall, supplemented by wheelchair-accessible stations such as "The ride to nowhere", "The slalom" and the zip line. The Rüthen high ropes course is thus establishing itself as a specialist center that exemplifies inclusion in the area of fun sports and leisure activities.
